Worzalla Stuffs Little Free Libraries with Books for Read Across America Day

Early on Monday, March 2, Worzalla associates were hard at work, but they weren’t at their normal jobs of creating high-quality custom books at the Stevens Point book printing company. They were working to ensure that the community’s Little Free Libraries were stocked with books of all kinds in honor of Read Across America Day.

Read Across America Day, also known as Dr. Seuss Day, was created by the National Education Association to honor the famed children’s book author’s birthday and inspire students to read more books. The Stevens Point area has about two dozen Little Free Libraries throughout the community, small structures that community members have voluntarily built to house books for the community to borrow free of charge.

To honor Read Across America Day, Worzalla associates collected books to fully stock the Little Free Libraries that were located near the community’s schools. In total, Worzalla associates stocked 13 Little Free Libraries with dozens of books.

“Reading and literacy are important issues for us at Worzalla as one of the country’s leading manufacturer of high-quality children’s books,” said Brianne Petruzalek, Director of Human Resources at Worzalla. “We wanted to celebrate Read Across America Day by ensuring that the kids in our community have access to new and exciting books as well as old favorites.”

Worzalla works with many of the country’s top publishers to produce popular children’s book titles, such as current titles like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series from Abrams Books but also classics like Where the Wild Things Are from HarperCollins.

Worzalla is also currently running its Name That Press Competition, where local students and classrooms have submitted name suggestions for the company’s newest printing press. Finalists will be announced on Worzalla’s Facebook Page on March 9, where a round of public voting will determine the winning name for the new press. More details on the Name That Press Competition can be found at http://worzalla.site/name-that-press/.
